The Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association has selected the proposal presented by Mr. Bologna for the CLE Group program to be presented at the 23rd Annual RPTE Spring Symposia to be held May 3 - 4, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt New York. The topic of the CLE Group Program will be "Battle for Brooklyn" and Mr. Bologna will moderate the presentation which will discuss the ongoing issues with the Brooklyn, NY Eminent Domain proceedings.
The CLE Group program will include the directors and producers, Suki Hawley, Michael Galinsky and David Beilinson of the award-winning documentary, Battle for Brooklyn. Battle for Brooklyn is a review of the very public and passionate fight waged by residents and business owners of Brooklyn's historic Prospect Heights neighborhood facing condemnation of their property to make way for the polarizing Atlantic Yards project, a massive plan to build 16 skyscrapers and a basketball arena for the New Jersey Nets. The film focuses on a grassroots battle to stop the acquisition, by eminent domain, for a clearly economic development project. The program will feature not only the directors and producers, but will also feature New York practitioners involved in the lengthy legal fight which followed the Atlantic Yards project. The documentary provides a first-hand account of the very real emotions and legal arguments involved in a challenge to an eminent domain economic development project.
