Gary J. Collins received his undergraduate degree with high honors, and a Masters in Labor and Industrial Relations, from Michigan State University. He received his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University. Mr. Collins is an experienced litigator practicing in state and federal courts as well as before the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Michigan Employment Relations Commission, National Labor Relations Board, the Michigan Tax Tribunal, State Tax Commission, and the Michigan Department of Education. He has represented more than 30 public sector institutions in litigation.
Mr. Collins is listed in the Bond Buyer’s Municipal Directory (“The Red Book Directory”), advising in all stages of the issuance of tax exempt notes and bonds, from initial decision making to closing. He is co-author of The Michigan Teacher and Tenure which is used as a resource by most Michigan School Districts.
Mr. Collins is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Taxation, and Labor and Employment Sections of the Michigan Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association, the Michigan Association of School Boards, the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the Michigan and National Councils of School Attorneys, and the National Organization of Labor Problems in Education. He practices in the areas of labor, employment, school law and school bonding.
