Donald DeNault Attends COSA's 50th Anniversary Seminar
On March 23rd and 24th, Donald DeNault attended the 2017 COSA School Law Seminar in Denver, Colorado. The Council of School Attorneys, informally known as COSA, celebrated its 50th anniversary with an excellent program that included updates regarding the evolution over the past 50 years in the areas of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, religion in public schools, student speech rights in public schools, student discipline, and Title IX. CNN Analyst Jeffrey Toobin presented an engaging discussion of the evolution of the United States Supreme Court, and Mary Beth Tinker was a special guest presenter on the topic of student speech and her perspective on the seminal case that “started it all,” Tinker v Des Moines Independent Community School District (1969).
Mr. DeNault has been a member of COSA and a school law practitioner for more than 20 years, specializing in student discipline, FOIA, the Open Meetings Act, contracts, district boundary amendment proceedings, school board policies, school litigation, and most other school law business matters.
