To show support for Michigan’s First Responders, O’Reilly Rancilio attorneys are now offering to provide free basic estate planning services to those serving on the frontline in the battle against Covid-19.
The estate planning services offered free of charge (excluding out-of-pocket expenses) include preparation of the following documents:
- Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare – A legal document which designates a trusted person to make health care decisions for you (including carrying out your wishes with respect to end-of-life preferences) if you are unable to do so yourself. This document is necessary to avoid court intervention or family conflicts if you should become unable to make your own healthcare decisions.
- General Durable Power of Attorney for financial business decisions - A legal document which designates a trusted person to make financial and other non-medical decisions on your behalf. Your designated agent can be given very broad or limited authority. A power of attorney can be designated to be effective immediately, or only upon your incapacity, and it continues to be effective even after you have become incapacitated until you pass away.
- Simple Will - A legal document which provides instructions to the probate court with respect to how you want to distribute your assets to family, friends, and other beneficiaries. It also designates who you wish to serve as guardian to raise your minor children, and who you want to act as personal representative to administer your estate through the probate process.
