Collective Bargaining and Employment Law

O'Reilly Rancilio’s governmental attorneys have been at the forefront of collective bargaining and employment-related matters for local governments for more than 50 years. We have assisted municipalities and school districts in southeastern Michigan in their negotiations with all of their various unions, including police, fire, court staff, clerical, teachers, support staff, and all of the other groups representing municipal and school personnel. We have reviewed, interpreted, and revised many types of collective bargaining agreements, and we have successfully represented local governments and schools in grievance hearings, arbitrations, and employment-related litigation.

Our team includes lawyer Gary Collins, of counsel to the firm, who has written the book on labor and employment law for school districts, The Michigan Teacher and Tenure, and who was awarded Top Lawyers 2023 by dBusiness magazine.

Our attorneys are also experienced as special investigators for municipal and school district workplace claims (including Title 9), assisting with finding the root cause of such claims and presenting solutions.

With our vast and diverse experience in collective bargaining and employment law, our firm is uniquely qualified to effectively and efficiently address any municipal legal needs that may arise in this ever-evolving area of the law.
