2021 marked many successes for the attorneys and staff at O’Reilly Rancilio, and we are happy to present just a few of the notable achievements below. Our legal team is proud to have served the municipalities, business owners, and residents of Macomb County and southeast Michigan throughout the year and look forward to a successful 2022.

January


Mark Breaugh joins the O’Reilly Rancilio legal team in the firm’s litigation and disputes practice group. Mark’s practice focuses on business litigation, business and real estate law, commercial transactions, and corporate and shareholder litigation.

February


Attorney Jim Sarconi joined the firm’s Board of Directors. Jim focuses his practice in the areas of complex commercial litigation, banking and finance, commercial loan workouts, and the representation of creditors in bankruptcy and other insolvency proceedings.

Keith Jablonski joined the firm as an equity shareholder. Keith focuses his practice on civil litigation and business planning. He represents individual and business clients in commercial litigation, corporate matters, and real estate transactions.

Attorney Larry Scott was named to the Michigan Lawyers Weekly Hall of Fame Class of 2021. The award recognizes Michigan legal leaders over the age of 60 who have practiced 30 years or more for their successful careers and valuable contributions to the community. In addition to serving as a shareholder and member of the O’Reilly Rancilio Board of Directors, Larry works as a commercial litigator. He has been in practice for 42 years. In his work in litigation, Larry represents individuals, business owners, and banking institutions to resolve disputes involving shareholder agreements, contracts, mortgage fraud, intellectual property, employment, and more.

Attorney John Bartley was named a Michigan Go-To Lawyer for Real Estate Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. The Go-To Lawyers program recognizes leading attorneys in a particular field of law as nominated by their peers. John concentrates his practice on all areas of real estate law.

August


Attorneys Chuck Turnbull, Larry Scott, Craig Schoenherr, Marc Kaszubski, Linda McGrail, Jim Sarconi, and James Thomas achieve Super Lawyer status for 2021. Super Lawyers magazine provides a rating of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who earned a high degree of peer recognition and personal achievement. Attorney Nathan Petrusak was named “Rising Star” by the publication.

Attorney Keith Jablonski is quoted in the Aug. 8 edition of The Macomb Daily. The story titled, “Covid Emergency Rental Assistance Program remains available” discussed recent changes to the Centers for Disease control eviction moratorium and the financial relief options available for landlords and tenants. Attorney Sharon DeWaele was named Michigan Lawyers Weekly Women in the Law 2021 honoree. The award recognized women who commit to excellence in the practice of law, are inspiring and accomplished leaders, serve as mentors to others, and contribute significant time to volunteerism and/or pro bono initiatives.

O’Reilly Rancilio’s municipal attorneys are recognized during the Sterling Heights State of the City event as helping to shut down over 600 illegal marijuana grow operations in the past year.

O’Reilly Rancilio is nominated for a Macomb Business Award in the Hometown Hero category. Throughout the pandemic, O’Reilly Rancilio supported the residents, businesses, and municipalities of Macomb County. Our attorneys offered free estate planning services to first responders, provided free legal counsel for business owners, and donated meals to healthcare workers.

Attorney Sean Colonna joins the O’Reilly Rancilio legal team. Sean is an associate attorney who specializes in general estate planning, business transactions, and succession planning.

O’Reilly Rancilio President Chuck Turnbull is quoted in “Super Lawyers” magazine in a story titled “How to succeed at succession: The importance of creating a plan to keep a business going for generations.” The article offered guidance to business owners on how to plan for the future.

O’Reilly Rancilio attorney John Nitz receives a Distinguished Volunteer award from Advancing Macomb. Mr. Nitz is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors at Advancing Macomb.
